Notes: If you want to work with a writer and split profit I suggest googling contracts for Writer artist partnerships,
A good book is:
Graphic artists pricing and ethical guidelines- it has prices and contracts and how to go about business.
Note 1. make sure to say who is owner of the intellectual property and make it clear how each party can use it.
Note 2. This is not a perfect contract but its a start and very simple outline. Others I’ve found are too wordy.
Note 3. Make sure you edit your contract and make it very clear. Especially if you are with an artist or a writer and are looking for monetary gain or not, people change their minds fights happen, maybe the story isn't going how you wanted, maybe the artist is not producing quality work. Maybe one of you wants to sell and the other doesn’t want to sell. Things happen and the contract is there to save you.
Note 4. Make sure that if you make addendum or changes to the contract please discuss it together, no going behind someones back, if it gets to lawyers they will refer to the contract and go by that.
Note 5. IMPORTANT: Remember, This is a bare bones contract, its not perfect, EDIT and use cautiously and stylized to your own needs.
If you have any questions I’d be happy to answer any of them!
